The Doula Role 

Hello my name is Lizzie,

If you have reached this website the chances are that you or a loved one has been given the news that life is drawing to a close. This can be a scary and unsettling time for all involved. However, you do not need to face this alone, the Doula's role is to provide support in anyway that is beneficial to you.  

Examples of Support

Drawing out what's important to you and help you live life fully for as long as possible
Acting as a mentor and advocate when attending Doctor or Hospital appointments
Being a stable presence, fully grounded - calm and comforting
Discuss and document Advance Planning, giving you peace of mind
Encourage family and friends to be involved as little or as often as you would like
Being there when complicated feelings arise
Walking the dog
Knowledge of other facililites and groups that may be able provide extra support
Encouraging you to try new hobbies 
Helping you re-connect with old friends

and the most important one TIME

I am specially trained in End of Life matters to help with coming to terms and be able to cope with the thought of dying and loss. You really don't need to do this alone,  help and support is just a phone call away.

What to do next
How about we meet together for a cup of tea or maybe you would prefer a chat on the phone? There is no charge for an initial introduction and meet up. 
I would imagine that life right now is all up in the air and you are trying your best to hold on tight.  It can be a frightening time and the feeling of not being in control of your life is unnerving.
This is when the Doula role can really help.  I can become a part of your team - a solid, stable and grounded member offering compassion, support and time. I am able to offer informed information allowing you to make choices best for you and your loved ones.
